Cleaning Your Acrylics: Acrylics should only
be cleaned with disinfectants made specifically
for tanning beds that are EPA registered. These
cleaners are sold in concentrated form and are
very inexpensive. Do not use window cleaners or
other household chemicals as they will ruin your
acrylics. Not only that, but they do not
disinfect and they cost more, but most of all,
they are in violation of health regulations
throughout the U.S. Each state has health
regulations, even those which do not regulate
tanning beds.
The tanning bed must be cleaned by a salon
employee after each use. This is not the
responsibility of the customer to do so. Clean
the tanning bed in conformity with the label on
the cleaner. A spray bottle containing the
cleaning mixture should be kept handy so that
the bed can be quickly wiped down after each
use. This cleaning process will also keep the
acrylics from blocking the UV from buildup.
Proper Eyewear: The salon must provide the
customer with the proper eyewear. By law, the
eyewear must also be disinfected after each use
in order to prevent the spread of eye
infections.
You may either provide eyewear on each bed or
keep them up front and make sure the customer
takes a pair on the way to the tanning bed. Some
customers may prefer to bring their own eyewear,
but you need to make sure they have them before
they go into the tanning bed. Regular customers
often prefer to bring their own eyewear since
they don't need to be concerned about wearing
the ones that others use. Eyewear is very cheap
to purchase.
Tanning Lotions: Only tanning lotions that are
formulated for use in tanning beds should be
used because other suntan products have mineral
oil, olive oil or other ingredients that will
damage the acrylics. These types of suntan
products will make it extremely difficult to
clean the beds.
The tanning lotions that are formulated for use
with tanning beds work very well. They will
accelerate the tanning process and enhance a
person's tan with less exposure time. they will
also provide much needed moisture for the skin
that tanning can strip away. You can also earn a
profit by selling these special tanning products
at your business. The price of the tanning
products is not necessarily indicative of
quality, as the key is regular use and the
moisture it provides the skin.
